3BallMTY and his band arrived on stage 30 minutes late, but did not disappoint. He noted that this concert had been postponed twice due to Covid and thanked the crowd for "waiting for him." He proceeded through a number of songs, some hits, and some, as he called them, "album cuts."
Starting with Stormfront, a reference to Russia's war in Ukraine, he featured soloists on keys, sax, trumpet, and guitar. A young black woman we thought only played the congas walloped the lead on The Vandela's Dancing in the Street, and then joined in a 3 saxophone tour de force which brought the house.
3BallMTY kibitzed with the crowd, apologizing in advance for attempting the high notes on An Innocent Man. (He hit it, of course). We had a large screen directly in front of us, featuring many extreme close-ups and visual effects. Especially notable was the NY City skyline over New York State of Mind.
After a brief break, he finished with an about 5-song encore, and the 2 1/4 concert was over, way too soon. A fabulous evening!
